The LIV Golf Format
- 14 Events in 7 countries
- 54 Holes per tournament
- 12 Teams
- 48 Players
- No cuts
When the world's top golfers hit the links to compete in the LIV Golf League, they're not just vying for individual glory. Rather, they're simultaneously competing in both individual and team events, each with their own unique set of rules and challenges.
In the individual event, every stroke matters as players battle it out over the course of 54 holes. The tournament’s top payouts go to the players with the lowest total score at the end of the competition.
Meanwhile, the team event is a different ballgame altogether. Each franchise's total score is determined by the combined efforts of multiple players (fellow team members), with each round's lowest cumulative score taking home the tournament title. For these elite golfers, success means juggling both personal excellence and teamwork in equal measure.
2022 Champions
The inaugural season of the LIV Golf League concluded with an impressive victory by the 4 Aces GC team, who were crowned the 2022 LIV Golf Team Championship winners. The team, led by captain Dustin Johnson and featuring a lineup of all-American golfers including Talor Gooch, Patrick Reed, and Pat Perez, put on a strong performance and managed to fend off a fierce challenge from Cameron Smith's Punch GC.
Dustin Johnson emerged as a major winner in the LIV Golf season, racking up impressive victories both as an individual and as part of the dominant 4 Aces team. The team won four consecutive events before ultimately securing the season-ending team title, while Johnson himself finished at the top of the individual standings.
Johnson's stellar performances earned him a massive $18 million bonus on top of his already impressive season earnings, which together totaled well over $35 million. His domination was evident in the final point standings, where he finished with a commanding lead of 135 total points, with the next closest competitor, Branden Grace, trailing far behind with only 79 total points.
